The Principals of Sun Eagle Corporation; Martin Alvarez Sr., A.J. Alvarez, and John Alvarez have been operating in Arizona since 1978.
In 1978, Sun Eagle Corporation received its contractors licenses in Arizona as a general contracting company. During their first eight years Sun Eagle maintained a steady workload with contracts ranging up to $900,000.00.
In 1985 Sun Eagle Corporation began to target larger projects and achieved success by receiving their first of many multi-million dollar contracts. In 1985 the award for “Contractor of the Year” was presented to Sun Eagle Corporation by the Tucson Minority Business Development Center. Through the course of the next five years Sun Eagle Corporation maintained its controlled growth, and continued to be recognized within the industry for its achievements.
In 1989 Sun Eagle landed two of its most extensive projects at the time from the US Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation: The Tucson Aqueduct-Black Mountain Operating Reservoir ($7.5 million) and the Tucson Aqueduct-Reach 6 Pipeline ($6.2 million). The US Department of the Interior, recognized Sun Eagle with the “Construction Safety Award” in 1991 for their outstanding performance on these projects.
Throughout the course of its existence Sun Eagle has had a long-standing relationship with the United States government, completing such projects as the Air Cargo Test Facility ($10.3 million) located at the Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona. From 1990-1992 the US Army Corps of Engineers recognized Sun Eagle with the “Safe Work Award.”
From 1991-1995 Sun Eagle was selected by the U.S. Department of the Air Force for its SABER Project (Simplified Acquisition of Base Engineering Requirements) at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona. The SABER project involved 325 projects totaling $16.5 million.
Through the following years Sun Eagle has continued to maintain its growth, by continuing to provide high quality Construction Services. To this date the firm has been involved in over 320 projects totaling over $650 million. Sun Eagle has also ventured into the Construction Management market, and has begun to expand and excel in this area as well. In the recent years, Sun Eagle has served as a Construction Manager for 11 projects totaling $75 million.
For the last few years until present, many of Sun Eagle’s projects have focused on educational facilities, including elementary schools, high schools, colleges, technical institutes, and charter schools.
Now, and well into the future, Sun Eagle will continue to flourish and provide quality service and projects to the community.
